The differences in freedom of expression among students in Piedmont, California, Israel, and Italy are evident. While some students in Piedmont hold back due to fear of non-acceptance, their peers in Israel and Italy enjoy a more embracing atmosphere for discussing controversial topics. The US's cultural diversity may contribute to a perceived lack of freedom of expression compared to European countries. The fear of making mistakes and being canceled seems to hinder open dialogue, possibly deepening societal divides.
